Signing Sweet Songs is a very special piece to me. The school I went to as a child offered art classes, so naturally, I tried out for them. I had to try out a couple times before I was accepted in the 5th grade. I fell even more deeply in love with the craft, now that I had someone to show me different techniques.

My Bob Marley portrait was a piece I completed my 5th year of art, when I was 15 years old. It was honestly the first piece I really pushed myself on. I had a dead line it had to be completed by, which was a new thing for me at the time, and I had also never used charcoal in my life! This piece signified a huge milestone of accomplishments. Not just on the paper, but in my craft, which seeped into my daily life. Teaching me structure, pacing, organization, and timeliness, this portrait will forever stay close to my heart. It taught me that you can fall into peace when you keep stability in what you’re doing.
